Our skin reacts differently with each season of the year. If you want your skin to be perfect all the time, you need to take care of it according to the season. Summer is the time when people go on vacations, hit the beach, attend pool parties, and other outdoor activities. During these activities you may face sun and harmful UV rays, which cause sunburns, dehydration, uneven skin tone, and other skin problems.

Well, you don’t need to cancel your vacations to protect your skin from damage. You can enjoy the season freely while keeping your skin glowing and healthy. In this article, we will explore essential summer skincare tips to help you enjoy the season without worrying about the outcomes.

1: Use Sunscreen Daily: Reapply Every 2 Hours

Sunscreen helps prevent sunburns, which can be painful and damaging. It also reduces the sign of aging, such as wrinkles and dark spots, and lowers the risk of skin cancer.

You must have been told to apply sunscreen daily, right? But, using it only once  wouldn’t be enough, because sunscreen only lasts 2 hours due to sweating and swimming. So, for continuous protection it’s important to reapply your sunscreen after every two hours.

For summer, choosing sunscreen with at least SPF 30 would be enough. But, this level of SPF provides sufficient protection against the sun’s harmful UV rays. So, for even more protection SPF 50 would be a good choice for extended outdoor activities.

2: Double Cleanse Your Skin

In summers our skin becomes too much oilier due to increased sweat and sebum (oil) production which can cause breakouts and clog pores. Therefore, double cleansing is too important in summers to clean all the impurities your skin has gathered, and especially to  wash off sunscreen. If your sunscreen is not washed properly it may lead you to breakouts and irritate your skin.

However, you must be curious what double cleansing actually means? In simple terms, double cleansing means cleanse your face twice with different cleansers, first with oil based cleanser then washing it with water based cleanser. Read a proper guide on double cleansing to make sure you don’t miss this crucial step in your summer skincare routine.

3: Adjust Your Skincare Routine for Humidity

We face a lot of humidity in summers, which means high moisture content in the air can make it harder for your skin to absorb products. Gel-based or oil-free products are your best friends during summer to keep your skin hydrated and glowy without feeling greasy. Use non-comedogenic water based moisturizers that can easily absorb into your skin without clogging the pores. Yesto daily watermelon gel moisturizer and Neutrogena hydro boost moisturizer with hyaluronic acid are best go-to choices for summers.

4: Wear Protective Clothing and Accessories

While sunscreen is essential, it’s not the only line of defense against the sun. To give your skin extra protection, wear protective clothes and accessories when you head out and about to.

Wear Wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses with UV protection to shield your face and eyes from harmful rays. As for clothing choices, go for A lightweight, long-sleeved shirt and pants made from tightly woven fabrics “ones you can’t see through.”  Moreover, Look for clothing with an Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) rating for added peace of mind.

Lastly, when you go out, don’t forget to bring an umbrella to stay under the shade. These small steps makes a big difference in preventing sunburns to keep your skin healthy.

5: Stay Hydrated

To stay hydrated, you don’t need to drink plenty of water every 5 minutes. Yes, you heard it right! So, what causes dehydration? When your body doesn’t have enough fluids and minerals, it causes dehydration. These minerals found in your body that are called electrolytes, include sodium, calcium, and potassium. Your body collects them  from the food you eat and the fluids you drink.

Which means, you can stay hydrated not only by drinking plain water but also by eating fluids and foods that have high “water content.”

Eat Fruits like: Watermelon, cantaloupe, oranges, peaches, and pineapples.

Eat vegetables such as: Celery, cucumber, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and zucchini.

Drink fluids like: Coconut water, cold teas, iced coffees, sports drinks, and coconut water.

Now that I’ve made staying hydrated easy for you, I hope you won’t make the excuse of having to pee all the time from drinking too much water.
